Crisp leaves. Cooler temperatures. Tasty apple and pumpkin pies. There’s nothing to not look forward to where autumn is concerned. With the first day of autumn being only 11 days away there’s no better time than now to dive into adorning your home with cozy and inviting fall home decor.

Add touches of Mother Nature to your home decor

The vivid colors of fall will soon be making their presence known in the great outdoors, which makes it the perfect time for you to bring a little bit of the outdoors inside. Embrace the changing foliage and add some fall flair to your dining room table by creating a centerpiece focused on the changing leaves.

Not interested in decorating with leaves? You can also design a centerpiece with the fall harvest in mind. Wheat, squash, pumpkins, ornamental corn – the choice is yours.

A wreath can easily incorporate various aspects of fall and is a quick and simple way to get your home decor in line with the season. Consider adding festive touches like apples, cobs of corn or seasonal flowers to your wreath to really bring Mother Nature into your home. Remember, a wreath doesn’t have to be on the door. You can dress up windows, hang them over mantels or fill an empty nook with them too.

Have fun with accents

Consider a plaid throw blanket for your living room or bedroom and change out your summer-scented candles for those boasting of pumpkin spice, apples or other fall scents. Find a new cover for your throw pillows that truly embraces the warm, vibrant colors of autumn. Magnolia Home has many accent pieces that could be worked into a fall refresh of your home too.

Whatever you do, just have fun and embrace the change of the seasons. If nothing else, it gives you a good excuse to freshen up a room or two with some new fall home decor .

  1. Now that the Halloween season is passing by, I’m looking for some things to decorate my home for Thanksgiving. This is my first year living in my own apartment and so I don’t have any decorations already, and I love your suggestion to decorate with accents like throws or candles. I’m planning to go shopping for general decorative pieces later this week, so maybe I can get some small tables or something to help with accents, and try out those faux leaves, as well.
